3. In what ways does Frank’s post-poisoning situation differ in comparison with your situation, and in what ways is it the same?
Frank was a casual guy with selfish intentions before he realized his dire circumstances with being poisoned. He was chasing women to satisfy his ephemeral desire for lust. The movie portrayed his eagerness with a known whistle that usually represents women as objects.
As soon as he realized that he was poisoned and his life had very few moments left, he changed his over demeanor and goal. Instead of seeking temporary pleasures he sought out the reason behind his murder and also aimed to remedy another person in a similar situation. His one fearless goal was to figure out who did this and why, his life suddenly gained meaning.
Frank's situation is similar and different to everybody else on this earth. We shall all pass, and one day parish, and in this way we are similar. However, most of us believe we have many years left and an uncountable amount of seconds left on this earth, and because we do not see this ending moment in our near futures we all live in a different urgency.
My curiosity stems from the reasons why we do not live with more meaning and understanding of transience of time. Frank began to live with reason when he realized there was almost nothing left, should we as people wait until we see a deadline to start living with meaning?
It is with this thought that I had left the movie and have still yet to answer. Would anybody like to expand upon this notion and perhaps begin a dialogue?
Cheers,
